WEAPON OF PRAISE

TEXT: PSALM 149:3-8

1 Praise ye the LORD, Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise in the congregation of saints.

2 Let Israel rejoice in him that made him: let the children of Zion be joyful in their King.

3 Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp.

4 For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation.

5 Let the saints be joyful in glory: let them sing aloud upon their beds.

6 Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand;

7 To execute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishments upon the people;

8 To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron

Praise, apart from being an act of service, worship and the declaration of the Majesty and Goodness of God in the life of His people, it is also a very powerful weapon of spiritual warfare.

When you praise God, you activate the power of God to fight your adversaries. Jehoshaphat deployed this weapon and defeated the children of Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir (2 Chron. 20:22-23) through the weapon of ambushment against themselves.

The Israelites gave a shout with the sound of trumpet and musical instruments for the great wall of Jericho to collapse. (Josh 6:20)

When God’s high praise is in your mouth, the two-edged sword of the spirit is deployed to execute vengeance and punishment of God’s enemies, thus enabling you to live a life free of oppression and pain.
